How to make free support WORK!

As we all know there are tons of free open source software on the interwebz, alot of which have bugs, or install problems or etc.

So who does support for these programs or code, mostly the developers.

Remember “If you always do what you’ve always done, you’ll always get what you always got.” So stop being a dumb ass.

Help the developers help you.

These are some ways how.

1. Never ever ever demand anything to be done or fixed. THIS LEADS NO WHERE!!! Ask nicely and be sincere, this way the developers will be more likely to help you sooner.

2. RTFAQ (Read The Fucking Frequently Asked Questions) or RTFM. No developer or support team wants to re answer questions again and again.

3. Show support for the project, whether by help answering others questions or by donations.

4. Leave the copyright or the link back to the developer. ALOT of people remove the copyright notice or any credit to the developer. Don’t be one of those people.

5. Don’t ask stupid questions, if you dont know how to install a program. GOOGLE IT.

6. When asking questions, give as much information as possible about the problem your having. Errors and etc. This helps speed things along.

7. Grammar, try to use complete sentences, correct spelling and spaces.

Timeout Notification [SMF]

Notification for when your session has timed out, resulting in you being logged out.

I think that pretty much explains it.

NOTES:

Default check time is every 15 seconds.

To change this simply open Themes/default/scripts/login_check.js

Edit setInterval('Login_Check()', 15000);

Replacing 15000 with the desired time in milliseconds.

Revision3 Show Downloader

Revision3 Show Downloader (python)

A script i made to download all episodes of a certain Rev3 shows.

Requirements:

Python

wget.exe (if in windows) http://users.ugent.be/~bpuype/wget/

If your in linux simply run the script as a normal python script (“python rev3_dl.py”)

If your in windows you need to install python http://www.python.org/

Then download http://users.ugent.be/~bpuype/wget/

Put wget.exe in the same folder as the python script and then run the script.

First off we would like to thank everyone for the bug reports, support, and etc. A big thanks also goes to mrtrc266 and BxK.

The latest version of the TalkBox has finally been released a day early. So turn off your alarms…..this is the big announcement.

We feel this is currently the best we can get the TB goes. This is the FINAL release. This does not mean that new features will not be added, new features will be addons but the core of the TB is final. Well also feel this should take care of most performance issues and help with doubles.
Since we are on the subject of doubles we have come to a dead end. So the doubles are no longer considered a main bug, and will not be officially looked at further.

NCSoft Phishing http://user-ncsoft.com

NCSoft users beware as there is another phisher among us.

I was recently sent a message in aion that my account password was changed and to go to http://user-ncsoft.com/ to change it. But as far as i know NC-Soft representatives never contact you in game about account info, which was the first give away. So i started to do alittle research and the domain does not even belong to NCSoft. So please beware, i have had my vengeance, ingore any messages relating to your account and http://user-ncsoft.com/.

While the website may look real it is NOT.

Phishing is a very easy task. Take a look at this none active demo. I have not changed any code yet. But with a few simple edit’s this could be a phishing page.

Light PNG's FireFox 3.5-3.6

Within the past day a bug has seemed to have to have knocked on my door and slapped me in the face.
If your having lighter PNG’s showing up in FF 3.5-3.6 im going to show you how to fix it.

This bug seems to show up in FF 3.5-3.6 on Windows 7 (64Bit).
This bug may not show up for everyone as it seems the bug shows up for some and not others, The only connection we have found so far is FF, Win7 (64bit) and images created in photoshop with the sRGB IEC61966-2.1 color profile enabled.

Example:

As you can see in the picture above the PNG on the bottom with the “sRGB IEC61966-2.1″ profile enabled is lighter than the one without and should blend in with the background color but does not.

Ok time for a FIX.

You can simply disable the profile in photoshop Edit>Assign Profile>”Don’t Color Mange This Document”>Ok
